The extended 44th session of the World Heritage Committee concluded in Fuzhou on the evening of July 31. The session added 34 new World Heritage Sites, and three items that have been included in the World Heritage List were approved for major expansion. It also adopted the Fuzhou Declaration.

On the evening of July 28, 2021, good news came from the extended 44th session of the World Heritage Committee in Fuzhou, Fujian province that Wulipo Nature Reserve in Wushan County, Chongqing was included as part of the World Heritage site of Hubei Shennongjia and become the third world natural heritage site in Chongqing following Wulong Karst and Jinfoshan Karst.

On July 19th, the extended 44th session of the World Heritage Committee held in Fuzhou City, Fujian Province, reviewed the African item on the List of World Heritage in Danger and decided to remove Salonga National Park, a world natural heritage site of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, from the list.
