German Medical Assembly

The German Medical Assembly (Deutscher Ärztetag) is the annual meeting of the German Medical Association, the “parliament of the medical profession” in Germany. It has been held every year since 1873, with the exception of 1912, 1915-1917, 1920, 1922/1923, 1932-1947.

The State Chambers of Physicians send a total of 250 delegates to the German Medical Assembly. The delegates discuss and adopt cross-state professional regulations on, for example, the model professional code (Musterberufsordnung) and the model regulations on speciality training (Musterweiterbildungsordnung). They also formulate the standpoints of the medical profession on current health-related and socio-political debates.

The President and the two Vice-Presidents of the German Medical Association are elected by the Assembly for a term of four years.

The 122nd German Medical Assembly will take place in Münster between 28 and 31 May 2019.
