Akarport is the company which manages, and operates the port of Astakos - Navipe located on the west coast of Greece. The port's strategic location next to international maritime routes makes it a gateway for traffic between the countries of the European Union and the East while at the same time rendering it a link between the Adriatic, the Balkans and the areas around the Black Sea.

Objectives

The company's objectives are:

  • The operation and utilization of the Port of Astakos - Navipe which is situated on the Western Coast of Greece between the cities of Igoumenitsa and Patras. The Port is on a direct line from the Suez Canal.
  • The development, management and administration of the Port and the adjacent Maritime Industrial Area which also is characterized as Free Industrial and Commercial Zone (unique in Greece).

The Port

The Port of Astakos - Navipe is strategically located on the Western Coast of Greece, close to the main international shipping lines, provides a unique opportunity of developing a gateway for traffic between the European union and East, as well as linking the Adriatic, Balkan and Black Sea areas. The Port's organization and flexibility stems from the whole project being in the private sector, which ensures business effectiveness, without undue in bureaucratic procedures.
