Chelsea have held a meeting with Julian Nagelsmann as the west London club aim to narrow down the shortlist of candidates to become their next permanent head coach.

Paul Winstanley and Laurence Stewart, Chelsea’s co-sporting directors, are leading the process of recruiting Graham Potter’s successor and held the first in-person talks with Nagelsmann on Thursday.

Chelsea’s meeting with the former Bayern Munich manager occurred alongside calls and meetings with other candidates, with sources at Stamford Bridge insisting no preferred option has yet been identified.

Winstanley and Stewart are completing the thorough process of vetting names on the shortlist, which includes up to seven coaches, before presenting a final recommendation to co-owners Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali.
