Steven Gerrard has advised Liverpool forwards Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah not to leave Anfield this summer as the duo enter the final year of their contracts.

Both Mane and Salah played the full 90 minutes of Liverpool's 1-0 defeat to Real Madrid in Saturday's Champions League final.

In the lead up to the final, Salah said he was going to stay with the Reds next season, whereas Mane promised to make his announcement soon, amid speculation linking with a move to Bayern Munich.

And Liverpool legend and current Aston Villa manager Gerrard said on BT Sport after the final: “Salah has already said that he is going to be here next year, I know there is a bit of noise around Mane.

“But why would you want to leave this Liverpool team because you know that they are going to be competitive in the business end of the season?”

This Liverpool team under Klopp are known for bouncing back after facing disappointment and they are well equipped to do the same next season.

But it remains to be seen whether Mane, in particularly, will be a part of that.
