City will play two preseason fixtures in Tokyo, Japan as part of the club’s trip to Asia in preparation for the 2023/24 season.

Prior to the recently announced fixture against Atletico Madrid in Seoul, South Korea on 30th July 2023, City will travel to Tokyo to face CFG sister club and current J.League Champions Yokohama F・Marinos on 23rd July 2023, followed by Bayern Munich on 26th July 2023, completing the Club’s preseason fixture line up. Both fixtures will take place at the Japan National Stadium in Tokyo.

City last played current J.League Champions Yokohama F・M during the Club’s preseason visit to Asia in 2019, securing a 3-1 victory at the Nissan Stadium. Shaun Wright-Phillips also visited Yokohama F・M’s stadium as part of Manchester City’s Global Trophy Tour in November 2022, bringing both the Premier League Trophy and J.League Trophy together.

FC Bayern Munich are no strangers to Manchester City, with the two sides most recently coming head-to-head in this season’s Champions League Quarter-Finals. City has also previously faced the Bundesliga club in a number of preseason matches , most recently in 2022 at Green Bay’s iconic Lambeau Field.

Esteve Calzada, Chief Commercial Officer at City Football Group, said: “We are delighted to announce further details of this year’s preseason tour to Asia, completing our full schedule for the trip with two fixtures against Yokohama F・Marinos and FC Bayern Munich in Tokyo.
