UPDATE: 7/17, 4:45 p.m.ET:

The USO is clarifying some of the details surrounding Charlie Sheen's donation.

- It's one of the largest, not "the" largest single contribution ever.

- Sheen will not attend a ceremony to hand over a check. The USO has already received it.

- The funds will go to the USO's Operation Enduring Care campaign, which is helping to build two new USO Centers to support ill and injured troops and their families. One will be at Walter Reed/Bethesda Hospital in Bethesda, Md., the other at Fort Belvoir, Va.

--------------

It's the largest single contribution ever from an individual to the USO.

Charlie Sheen announced today that he'll donate 1% of the profits from his new FX show Anger Management to the USO. He guaranteed a minimum of $1 million will go to the organization. And, there's an unlimited cap on the final donation, he says in a release from his rep.

"His support is greatly appreciated, especially from our wounded warriors and their families," says Gen. John I. Pray, Jr., executive vice president of the USO.

Sheen will hand over the first installment of $250,000 in a private ceremony later this week with Sloan D. Gibson, USO president and CEO. The funds from Sheen's donation will be used towards an entertainment facility for seriously injured military troops in Bethesda, Md.

"It's an honor for me to be able to give back to these men and women of the military who have done so much for all of us," said Charlie Sheen. "They put their lives on the line for us every day, and I'm just happy that my work on Anger Management can bring a little bit of relief to the troops and their families."
